Apologies for the bad photo quality(camera issues). This had to be shared ASAP!
Doesn’t Drew Barrymore look stunning?
I’ve been meaning to try REN skin care products after hearing so much about them on Youtube videos. Everyone seems to rave about their skin calming abilities. Hype aside ,I have to take into account my uber sensitive skin. Then teamed with the fact that products start at £15, I have to be sure I’m not going to waste my money on a once used product. So when I passed the local Co-Op local store and saw InStyle magazine with free sample sizes, I couldn’t believe my luck! The perfect way to try out the range AND a different magazine. Not to mention that the magazine was £2! I predict a sell out edition so grab one while it lasts 🙂
Hello beautiful wonderful people 🙂 I have started to think about the kind of posts I like to read. I spend a lot of my chill out time watching hauls(where bloggers/vloggers chronicle their latest buys). I get so much shopping inspiration from hauls, especially the beauty videos. It is incredible how much is available to us online! So from now on, whenever I buy something more interesting than discounted toilet paper(HOLLA!), I may chronicle it here. So here goes…
1. Fashion Fair Oil Control Pressed Powder £21 here
2. Fashion Fair Perfect Finish Soufflé Mouse Foundation £22 here
I decided to jump off the Mac foundation band wagon and try a another brand. Especially considering the don’t actually cater for my skin tone and I’m tired of mixing colours. Fashion Fair is dedicated to black skin tones. I don’t know that I’ll ever get my perfect foundation, but teamed with the power it’s a pretty good match.
3. Eucerin Dermo Purifier Active Concentrate £9.50 here
First time purchasing this product but I’m already a huge Eucerin fan! These people KNOW skin. Perfect for anyone with SUPER sensitive skin or ex-acne. Got loads of compliments since I started using this, but this isn’t a review so moving on swiftly!
When I was younger I got the impression that all elegant ladies wore lipsticks, heels and trench coats. Hence I decided that when I got older and more mature I would get my first lipstick and it had to be red. I did get a red lipstick but not much maturity.
Mac ‘s ‘Ruby Woo’.This is one of those products that EVERY blogger , Tom, Dick and Harry has! I am a bit of a rebel and bore in mind that I already had one red lipstick from Clinique. It had a glossy finish so resembled a very highly pigmented lipgloss. A little bit of a cop out but a great starter for my 19 year old mind. I didn’t see the need to get another red lipstick. However, after giving the lipstick away I was left with a void. Having looked high and low I realised it ws time to face my fear and go for a matte colour. Looking for a blue toned red was suprisingly difficult and I now understand why ‘Ruby Woo’ is such a favourite.
It suits so many skin tones and has incredibly colour pay off! I made up my mind to pick up one while I was in New York City as a little treat 🙂
My only issue with this lipstick is that while it has great staying power it transfers and bleeds quite a lot. For me, I couldn’t wear it without lip liner, and everything my lips brushed on got some red action! I’m all up for making a lasting impression but I was kinda careful about the angles and physics of my hugs ha! I don’t wear a full face of a make up crazy often. I am not used to it so you have to factor that in. All in all I am crazy about the colour, I can figure out a lip primer later….
I’m in bed(yay) on my day off work(more yay). I’ll be honest I’m not intending to leave my room for a good couple of hours. I got my snacks, food and portable heater. I’m living the life!
A while ago I heard a future bride discussing whether or not it is possible to have a natural hairstyle on her wedding day. In my head I was infuriated. How could she debate whether or not it was possible? If you choose to go for hair extensions, it’s your choice but it is definitely a possibility. In the light of day, I remembered that it wasn’t this ladies fault.
One of my favourite authors, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, is about to release a book I am super happy about. The novel ‘Americanah’ has taken the hair debate out of the black arena and made it a global political issue. On Channel 4, The New Yorker and the Ted Conference. Gosh, I love this woman.

I have heard younger girls being taught that in order to have success in a high powered careers afro hair is ill-advised? Is this is the legacy we are leaving? There is an impression that a natural texture is ‘less than’, ‘too eccentric’, ‘not professional’ etc etc. Sorry but what??!! What happened to breaking through stereotypes and being the change, not the problem. More importantly as a Christian I can’t help but wonder, where is God’s role in all of this? If you believe in God, surely He is the operating ingredient in our success. Hopefully people see the Creators work in our job interviews, not just our Brazilian………extensions.
We speak of being modern women, but contradict ourselves by agreeing and conforming with those who judge us by our hair. If God knows the future and destined us to attain to higher heights, surely He created in us all that we need. Choose your hair style, ANY hairstyle, because you like it. Not to cover up a beautiful natural work.
Hi everyone!!!! Hope your all well and smilling and happy 🙂 So remember that time I told you I was going to start doing reviews? The time has come. I love reading reviews on beauty and hair products. Luxury purchases are not an everyday occurance for me…..yet ha! When I splurge I like to do it well, on beautiful pretty things that I will always love. It’s understandable to fork out on classic basic products, because they are a massive part of your wardrobe. In the light of this, I try to read reviews on pricier products before getting my battered wallet out! Let’s get it started….woop….woop….woop?
Approx £55 at Harrods in-store (London)
Smells like: A sophisticated feminine scent. Pink roses, blood orange(underlying), a little earth(apparently Indonesian Patchouli?) and Spring. It’s the perfect scent for Summer, and a great ‘pick me up’ during the Winter.
Packaging: Stunning! I have enjoyed having this on my bookshelf. When it’s empty, it will be hard to part with! Having had the perfume for 5 months, the packaging has retained its look. No rusty metal or chipped edges. Good job Mr Dior.
Lasting power: Unfortunately, pretty bad. I absolutely love this scent, but the Eau De Toilette does not last long. ‘Eau de Toilette’ scents are a watered down version of ‘Perfume’ sprays. Perfume sprays contain a much higher percentage of the original oils and essences that create a scent. This is what makes perfumes more expensive. I know Eau De Toilette’s do not last very long on the skin, but my house mate didn’t know I wore it every day 😦 Ouch. Kind of an essential point…
Would I recommend this: Yes. The scent and the packaging are wonderful. However, I wouldn’t recommend the Eau De Toilette version. When I repurchase it, I will buy the perfume.
Hi there! My name is Chioma and I'm just a 22 year old Nigerian Londoner who is blogging about life, style and weddings. Whilst trying not to eat too much cake....(Smiles)
So,I’ve seen this tag floating around Youtube and various blogs. It really is too much information, but that didn’t stop me watching reading and watching a host of them! Want to know more about me…..keep reading! Just a heads up, I started this at home and finished it elsewhere. If the answers don’t correlate, you […]
I’m not a Valentines Day kinda girl. I have never have been and no, I’m not single. (By the way it is possible to dislike Valentines day, be single and not be bitter. That was me for many years.) What gets to me is the Valentine’s hype. The presumption of a gift. There are exceptions […]
Hello everyone! So looking back on your responses in 2013, I was a little surprised that you all loved my wedding posts more than all the others. Here’s the thing, I love creating them! I have a lot of fun writing them. At one point last year I considered making this a wedding blog. Restricting my […]
Karl Lagerfeld is a genius. He (and Coco Chanel, God rest her creative soul), are the only people who could convince me to wear tweed head to toe. I’m a fan of a brand who holds its own. One of the ways a heritage couture house can keep relevant is by creating its own trends. It’s not […]
So, I’m shame faced. It’s a new year, show me some grace please! Sorry to have been away for so long. Nevertheless, I’m back baby.I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and are having a fabulous New Year. Am I the only one that feels like Christmas is different when you are older? Being […]
