Well if your going to do it. Do it well.

28 Jan

Karl Lagerfeld is a genius. He (and Coco Chanel, God rest her creative soul), are the only people who could convince me to wear tweed head to toe. I’m a fan of a brand who holds its own. One of the ways a heritage couture house can keep relevant is by creating its own trends. It’s not enough to just follow them anymore. This may sound pretty obvious, but we all know a luxury brand/item we loved which is sadly a part of the history books! (Or largely available in TK MAXX.) It’s no secret that fashion changes its own rules. However, this one is a shocker! Cue Chanel Couture Spring/Summer 2014…

Yep. They were all in trainers. For the record, I hate trainers. If you had told me that Chanel would do its Haute Couture collection with rubber soles two weeks ago? I’d have raised my eyebrows.  This doesn’t mean I’m going to dump my heels and reach for a pair of Oasics. But it does mean I admire the boldness of the ones behind the catwalk. I’m not going to lie, It really doesn’t look half bad…

Splurge Or Save

splurge or save michael kors wren

Team Michael Kors Wren Watch or Team ASOS Chronograph?

I have been in love with this Michael Kors Watch forever! But every time I want to do it, I just put my purse back inside my bag. £229 is a lot but not a CRAZY amount for a watch you’d wear everyday. Never the less in the run up to Christmas, it would wipe out the rest of my present list and then some. ‘Tis the season to give, not buy for oneself!

Think I’ll be ‘saving’ on this one.

Dig Out That Old Tee..

1 Oct

H&M conscious

So it seems that while I was sleeping, the T-Shirt got fabulous.

Many would argue that everything in fashion has already been done and we are only recreating the old. I completely disagree. While we are not creating styles that define the decades are much as before, new themes are emerging. Having looked at the beautiful fashion weeks across the globe happening right now, the street style tells us that something is bubbling. Fashion is now a portrait of opposites. Everything from evening wear with trainers( so very Lily Allen), to a silk lingerie slip dress and a tuxedo jacket.

I have to admit that I have never really been a T-Shirt person. However, I stumbled into a H&M store a month or two ago and fell in love! H&M’S ‘Conscious’ collection celebrates ethical and social responsible clothing. All of that aside, I bought mine primarily because the T-shirt had a ‘C’ on it….C is for Chioma instead 😉 Excuse the bad lighting/Iphone situation…

So in the spirit of trend loving, I have thrown in a plaid skirt, T-Shirt and a couple of other bits and bobs. I hope this inspires you as much as it has me eagerly budgeting my way around these pieces….

Monochrome Summer: OOTD and a Sparkly Treat

30 Jul

I am trying to console myself. Why? In the process of trying to be  a grown up, I have decided to give this blog a proper domain name/hosting. But alas I have already found myself on the support forum. 5 minutes in. Oh dear.

It’s been a while since I did an Outfit Of The Day, here goes!

I bought this  top from French Connection during a sale.  Its a  popular design but FC do it in the best quality I have seen on the high street.  Not at all sheer and with some actual weight to it.

I’m enjoying the last days of this  Monsoon skirt. It’s massive design flaw is that it doesn’t have a zip. As a result the waist area is stretched so the skirt can only be worn with a waist belt. Such a shame! The Chanel-esque strap makes my comfiness look a little more elegant. As does my Prada-esque  sunglasses. Too much Vogue.

tiffany key diamonds by the yard

Give a warm welcome to my new  Tiffany & Co ‘Diamonds by The Yard’ necklace. A.K.A. the love of my eyes for the last year. I told a friend of mine that I bought it and she said ‘FINALLY’ ha!

I chose to to have in yellow gold as opposed to platinum as it suits me better. White metals like silver, white gold and platinum stand out more on me. That wasn’t really the look I was going for. I gravitate towards jewellery that is very elaborate or barely there. I have not taken my new necklace off since I bought it 2 weeks ago. Definitely the right choice.

Bag of the Week= Michael Kors ‘Selma’

10 May

There isn’t really much to say about this beauty. It’s just gorgeous…..end off.

But like all things, I get on these bandwagons late. Might have to try and pick it up in New York when I go there. It’s is so much cheaper in the U.S.A and most of the great colours sold out in the UK weeks ago. They retail around £320 in the UK, which is a fabulous price point for a great designers leather bag.

My problem with diffusion lines, is that a lot of the time they leave out the luxury bits that made the label so famous. Then they plaster the brand name all over it which ruins all elegance! All in the name of making it more ‘affordable’, they make it tacky. So a lot of the time, I’m better off at Zara!

I currently own no designer bags, so it takes something pretty beautiful to make me want to spend my hard earned cash.

I am showing the orange and green because they are the only colours I really love. If your going to spend the money, be daring!
